We had to make a sixty second video with a given prop. Unfortunately, or so we thought at first, we were given a huge pair of disgusting feet. Like really, really, really gross. So we were a bit freaked out, because we didn't really want them in our video.
But once we came up with our idea, it all sort of fell into place. We were at first going to have a new student come in with the gross feet and gross everyone out. But then we realized, wouldn't it be funnier to turn that on it's head and give her the normal feet, but have everyone else with the disgusting feet just entirely repulsed by her normal feet? So that's what we decided to do in our video.
This went surprisingly well in the production stage I think because of all of the pre production that we did. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that in prior project, our pre production was not as good or in depth as it probably should have been. If I were to do this project again, I would even add more to our script and shot list, to make everything even easier in the production stage.
Our shots were:
1. The classroom. We went for a real sense of normalcy here, so that the viewer is caught off guard later.
2. The new girl enters.
3. The class is really weirded out by her, though the reason is not yet again explained. This creates sort of a casual sense of suspense (not horror movie levels, but enough to be interesting).
4. Then we take a page from some horror movies, and do sort of an over dramatic montage of the gross feet and the escalating freaking out by the new girl.
5. Then we show her normal feet, so that viewer finally understands.
6. Then we go back to the classes disgust, to make sure that the viewer knows it is about her normal feet.
7. Then a shot of the teacher introducing her.
8. Then we see that the teacher also has the weird feet.
9. Then we have a kid with the gross feet loudly ask her what's wrong with her feet.
10. Finally, we have a purposely melodramatic freaked out reaction from the girl.
The End!
